Japanese Friendship Doll Exchange collection

Welcome to
The Japanese Friendship doll Collection
About the site
Here I gladly present the Japanese friendship doll Map and additional Doll website collection. The map houses the current locations of the Friendship dolls given from Japan to the united states in the late thirties.
Information about these dolls are difficult to find.
The purpose of this map is to allow for better access to the locations and past histories of these dolls. All dolls have not been located. or available to the public. Those without information will be identified.
An additional resource is the doll history collection. This archive houses websites with past information about these dolls and other supplemental material to better understand these dolls
About this Project
This project was born out of George Mason University Graduate history course History 690: Archives in a digital age. The goal of the course was to begin thinking critically about all things archive and digital. We were asked to create something archival, that also agreed with our student interest.
I have found interest in Japanese Ningyo and the Friendship Doll Exchange fit very well into this program and assignment. With the Guidance of Dr. Gucer and my classmates, I have developed this project out of passion.
While clicking through these tabs and exploring this website, keep in mind the changes that the archival world is experiencing. Things like moving to web-based platforms and learning many different ways to present information. I hope that you gain the same insight I have throughout this process.
